NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Country singer Joey Feek lost her battle with cancer on Friday. She was 40 years old.

Joey Feek's husband wrote on his blog, This Life I Live, that she died at 2:30 p.m.

My wife’s greatest dream came true today.  She is in Heaven.

The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry.  Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior.

At 2:30 this afternoon, as we were gathered around her, holding hands and praying.. my precious bride breathed her last.  And a moment later took her first breath on the other side.

The duo of Joey + Rory lived in Maury County near Columbia until moving back to Joey’s native Indiana for her final days.

Country performers Joey Feek and her husband Rory were just starting to see national success when she was diagnosed with cancer, which would ultimately steal her life in the past two years.

The young mother, wife and professional singer showed how to face death like few have every publicly tried to do.

Through the internet, national magazines and TV stories, the world has watched, cried and prayed, and many praying for a miracle.

Joey + Rory were introduced to the national spotlight in 2008 when they were in an Overstock.com commercial.

They were different. She had an angelic voice, husband Rory and his overalls. The duo was unique and memorable and had a raw roots sound.

Joey + Rory were carving out a place for themselves, then in 2014, everything changed.

Joey gave birth to daughter Indiana, and not long after doctors found cervical cancer. It hit hard and it was terminal.

The family faced it and decided to go public with her final days.

Husband Joey has written a blog, This Life I Live, with emotional talks with Joey, pictures with their daughter.

Throughout Rory has been sad but grateful for the public support and prayers. Joey’s positive attitude and strength has been nothing short of amazing.

Faith and Love, family, a tragedy on so many levels, but a guiding light as well.

Joey will be remembered for her strength, her style and that beautiful voice.
