NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

There may still be some unsold tickets available to the public for the NHL All-Star Game next month at Bridgestone Arena.

The 2016 All-Star Game will be the first time Nashville has hosted the event. It will also be the first with the new three-on-three format.

Nashville Predators President and CEO Sean Henry shared an update on preparations for the big weekend.

“Today we have the bowl game, tomorrow we have New Year’s Eve, and obviously that gears us up toward the biggest celebration of the NHL season, and that’s the All-Star Game,” Henry said. “So it’s hard to not be excited.”

Early projections show the number of international visitors will reach the tens of thousands for the 2016 NHL All-Star Weekend.

Hotels are already sold out and tickets for the entire event are selling for more than $700 online.

“We really get to show off this city, our team and the passions our fans have for it to the hockey universe,” Henry said.

While most of the fans are coming from across the globe, the Predators expect a huge turnout from local crowds hoping to catch some of the excitement leading up to hockey’s biggest weekend.

“The reason we built the rink, the reason we did the outdoor stage and bringing the best of the CMAs to the All-Star Game, colliding both of them for people doing local tourism as well,” Henry said.

In a place that’s already home to some of the most famous music venues in the world, Henry said the All-Star Game will put Nashville and the Bridgestone Arena on sports fans’ wish list for an unforgettable hockey experience.

“Every visiting team will say this is the most intimidating building to play in,” Henry said. “Now people that haven’t seen it yet will realize it’s a special place, special market. It’s the ‘It’ city.”

For those hoping to score a last-minute ticket who aren’t Predators season ticket holders, Henry said the team will likely make between 50 to 150 more tickets available to the public the week leading up to the game.
