NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The TBI is working to identify someone wanted for questioning in connection to a double homicide from thirty-five years ago.

Carla Atkins and Vickie Stout, two teenage girls from Dover, were last seen walking on State Route 79 on Sept. 17, 1980. Somebody took them to Land Between the Lakes and shot them in the back of the head.

Witnesses reported seeing a blue truck in the area. They also saw Atkins and Stout approaching the truck and its driver.

Witnesses were able to describe the driver to TBI forensic scientists, who were able to develop age-progressed pictures.

District Attorney Ray Crouch has aggressively reopened the investigation with new interviews and new files. He has also asked the FBI to jump into the case because it happened on federal land.

Anyone who can recognize the man in the composite sketches or has information about the case is asked to call 1-800-TBI-FIND.
