NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

CMA Awards nominee Kelsea Ballerini had a very special guest join her on the red carpet at the CMA Awards on Wednesday night.

Memphis native 17-year-old Allie Allen is battling cancer.

The pair met at the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids event last year.

"I just adore her. She's the most beautiful girl and is kicking cancer's butt, and I'm so excited to share tonight with her," Ballerini said.

Allen said she hoped to meet Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood at the awards show.

"This is amazing, it's nothing I've ever experienced before. I feel super girly and glammed, I'm so happy," Allen said.

This is Allen's second time battling brain cancer.

A photo from Allen's homecoming dance went viral earlier this year when her date shaved his head to show support for her fight against cancer.

Wednesday night was Ballerini's first time as an artist at the CMA Awards. She was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year.
