Nashville songwriter pens tune for New York Mets

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The World Series begins Tuesday as the Kansas City Royals take on the New York Mets.

Neither team is close to Tennessee, so you might not think it would mean much. But it does for one Nashville songwriter.

When Justin Peters and the guys at Platinum Planet Records came up with a little ditty about the Mets four months ago, they never dreamed the team would make it to the World Series.

Now, Game 1 is Tuesday night.

“When you’ve got a theme song coming out day before the World Series, you’re hoping the Mets are going to win,” Peters said.

Peters had written hits for artists like Amy Grant. Now, he’s hoping to meet the Mets.

“We find out tomorrow if they actually use it in the stadium for the first time before the World Series,” Peters said. “It would be pretty incredible if they do.”

Peters said he is starting to focus a part of his songwriting and publishing company to sports-related music.
