NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

American flags in Tennessee will remain at half-staff through sunset on Friday, July 24, according to a spokesperson with Gov. Bill Haslam’s office.

Flags were originally set to remain lowered through Thursday, completing four days of mourning for the four Marines killed in the Chattanooga shootings: Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, Lance Cpl.Skip Wells, Staff Sgt. David Wyatt and Sgt. Carson Holmquist.

Saturday’s death of Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith, caused the state to extend the period.
