CHATTANOOGA, TN (WSMV) -

Evidence response teams from the FBI expect to process the crime scene at the Lee Highway Armed Forces Recruiting Station, the site of the first shootings in Chattanooga, by the end of Saturday, according to the Department of Justice.

Work by technicians at the second site, the Navy Operations Support Center on Amnicola Highway, is expected to take a few more days.

Federal authorities said they are receiving leads on the investigation into the shootings. They ask for anyone with information to call their tip line at 865-602-7582.

As the investigation continues, Chattanooga police have provided a bright update on one of their officers wounded in the gunfire.

A tweet sent out by the department late Friday contained a statement from the family of Officer Dennis Pedigo. It reads, in part, “Dennis Pedigo is doing well, he is in good spirits, he and the family would like to thank the community for their thoughts and prayers. Our family’s thoughts and prayers are with the families of the Marines that lost their lives.”

Gov. Bill Haslam will appear as a guest on Meet the Press on Sunday to discuss the attack. Meet the Press airs at 9 a.m. Sunday here on Channel 4.
