Rolling Stones fan hopes Jagger visits Parthenon

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Rolling Stones storm into Nashville Wednesday night for a big show at LP Field. For one Nashville fan, it's all about Mick, Keith, Ron, Charlie and the Parthenon.

Sylvia Rapoport is the president of the Parthenon Conservancy. She should be CEO of the Rolling Stones Fan Club.

When Mick Jagger recently said he'd like to see the Parthenon, it was like someone needed to come to her “Emotional Rescue.”

In 1965, Rapoport saw the Stones on stage and took action.

“It was right before my 11th birthday. They were coming to the Municipal Auditorium and my sister and I were huge Stones fans,” said Rapoport. “And we wanted to go.”

It took awhile for her to get her dad's OK. She went to the concert and even got Mick Jagger's autograph.

“I think it really birthed a love and a passion in music for me,” said Rapoport.

She has never missed a Rolling Stones tour since, seeing shows in London, New York, Athens and many more.

Rapoport's other love is Nashville's Parthenon. Her job as president of the group working daily to secure its future.

Those two passions collided in a recent Mick Jagger interview in which the entertainer said he wanted to see the Parthenon.

Her hope is that Jagger is now, in a way, coming to see her.

“Honky Tonk women. Athena, he needs to come and see Athena,” said Rapoport.

She's even tweeted out those famous lips, a kiss to Jagger's longevity and energy, still there 50 years after they first met.

“To me, The Stones have an edge,” said Rapoport. “Mick is still a total athlete, intellectual, a lover of the arts, a great role model for those of us as we get older.”

Rapoport will be in the crowd Wednesday night. Wild horses couldn't drag her away.

As far as the Parthenon goes, if Mick doesn't show, Sylvia surely knows “You can't always get what you want.”
