Jeni's destroys more than 500K pounds of ice cream

Posted: Updated:

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams said Wednesday it still has no timetable for reopening its stores.

Last week, Jeni's recalled all its ice cream products due to Listeria concerns. The ice cream maker also temporarily closed all retail locations, including three in Nashville.

The company said it has destroyed a total of 535,000 pounds of ice cream, costing the company nearly $2.5 million.

Jeni's said it has not restarted production and will not until officials figure out where the possible contamination came from.
