NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A photo that paints an unflattering picture of Metro police was revealed to be a hoax.

The photo has been making the rounds on social media, showing three officers holding signs that read, "Don't make me shoot you in the back."

The original photo was taken after the death of Officer Michael Petrina. The signs his colleagues were holding asked drivers to abide by the law in an emergency and move over.

Those signs have since been altered using Photoshop. The photo was also altered on at least one other occasion, after the shooting in Ferguson, MO.
