NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police say a man accused of opening fire on Metro officers is out of the hospital and is now behind bars.

Matthew McKervey allegedly shot at police when they came to his apartment on Hawkins Street to serve a drug-related search warrant last week.

According to the affidavit, when no one answered the door, police went inside, and McKervey started shooting. Officers fired back, hitting him in the arm.

Police said they found methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia inside the apartment.

Doctors released the 26-year-old from the hospital on Tuesday and brought him straight to the jail.

McKervey is facing a number of charges, including three counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a gun and conspiracy to distribute.

Two others were also arrested in connection to the case. Daniel Alcala, 28, and David Becerra-Ruiz, 40, are accused of conspiring with McKervey to distribute meth in Nashville. The pair allegedly took meth to McKervey from out of state.
