Instant homemade oatmeal on the go? Yes! Travel with it, take it to work or just make enough for the week ahead. You control all of the sugar/sodium in your own "instant" oatmeal bags.
Quick-cooking oats obviously cook faster, but when using a microwave, either are fine.
For each bag, place a 1/2 cup oatmeal, a handful of dried cranberries, a dash of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of ground flaxseed (optional) and if desired, chopped walnuts or pecans.
Have this ready to go, then pour into a travel mug or bowl and then just add 1 cup of water and cook in the microwave. Once hot, add fresh fruit.
If you are at your office, or without a microwave, run hot water through the coffee maker, and add to oatmeal. Then allow to cook as you prepare for your morning!
