2-Alarm fire at Nashville strip mall

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) - Several businesses at a Nashville strip mall were damaged during a two-alarm fire Friday Night.

The fire broke out at about 7:30 p.m. on Murfreesboro Pike near Nashville International Airport.

First responders immediately called for additional help.

At one point, about 60 firefighters were on the scene, according to District Fire Chief Doug Graves.

Graves tells Channel 4 News that 4 or 5 stores were damaged.

The Norton's Corner strip mall has been a local landmark for nearly 50 years.

"It's been in the family since 1967," said owner Rick Laster.  "My granddaddy built this place and I've got a lot of history here.  You know, things happen.  We'll rebuild and continue on."

Firefighters believe the blaze started in the middle of the building.  The investigation is ongoing.
