A Nashville mother makes a tearful plea for answers surrounding her son's murder. 24 year-old Gilbert Fowler was found shot to death earlier this week. Saturday family and friends are praying someone comes forward with answers.

“All I want to know is why,” Tiffany Fowler, Gilbert's mother, said.

For Tiffany Fowler a picture with her three boys is something of the past. Her son, Gilbert Fowler, was found dead outside a vacant north Nashville Home early Wednesday morning. A neighbor called police after seeing Fowler's car in the drive.

“He loved people. He was just a genuine people person,” Fowler said.

Fowler said her nickname for Gilbert was Gizzy. Among those in Nashville's transgender community he also known to go by the same name. Fowler said she's known about his lifestyle for years.

“I didn't agree with it. But I dealt with it because that was my son. Again if anybody had a problem with it, I would, because I'm his mama,” Fowler said.

It's still not known what lead up to Gilbert Fowler's death. Saturday night, many gathered to pray for answers and the end to street violence in Music City.

“Most of the time there is a young African American male that we're losing due to gun violence,” Earl Jordan, Founder and President of Partners In The Struggle, said. “It's hard for me. I know it's hard for the families. But it's going to take all of us. It's going to take the leaders of Nashville.”

Fowler wants to see an end to the violence. She also hopes the community will help solve her son's death. All she has left is memories of the boy she raised alone and the man he was working to become.

“I just pray that we can get some answers on what happened,” Fowler said. “What did my child do to you that was so bad, to make you do this to him. To take him, why?”

Fowler asked if you know anything about her son's death to call Metro Nashville Police.
