A Fayetteville family is looking for answers after a 28-year-old man disappeared more than 2 weeks ago.

James Allan Chambers was last seen Aug. 15 after a co-worker gave him a ride to his home on Carol Street in Fayetteville. Police say he was reported missing earlier this week after he did not report to work for an extended period of time.

"It's like James vanished after he got off work that evening," his mother, Rachel Wellhouser said Friday. "I don't know what happened that evening. I just want to find my son."

Police said Chambers has also had no contact with friends or family. His mother said he left behind all of his personal belongings, his dog and his identification.

"I'm scared to death because I know this isn't James and I want to find my son," Wellhouser said.

Wellhouser said she and her husband were on a trip when Chambers disappeared. She said she contacted police once she found out no one had heard from him for nearly two weeks.

"James would not do this," Wellhouser said. "I have [posted] on his Facebook and called him and texted him. And every time I leave the word 'Marco' he always comes back with 'Polo.'

"James has not responded to anything. There's nothing out there."

James is approximately 5 feet 8 eight inches tall, weighs between 170 and 190 lbs., has green eyes and short brown hair. He has a tribal tattoo on his right shoulder, a left ear piercing, a small scar under his left eye, a 3-inch diameter raised birthmark on his middle back area. He also wears a partial on his two top front teeth.

Wellhouser said she hopes someone comes forward with information about her son's whereabouts.

"I'm just going to keep looking until I find him," she said. "I love you boo. And I'm looking for you. 'Marco' baby."

Anyone with information concerning Chambers' whereabouts is asked to contact Det. Caldwell with the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 366-5853 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-8477.
