12 Investigates: Canceled concert patron want refunds

Posted: Updated:
PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) -

After months of advertising and planning, a concert for gospel artist Tamela Mann was supposed to happen at Zion Apostolic Christian memorial Petersburg.

That concert has been canceled. Many people who bought tickets are upset and want their money back.

Late Friday afternoon Sisters Reaching Sisters ministries said people who purchased tickets can get their money back or have the opportunity to attend a concert featuring local artists set for November 21.

It all began with fliers that listed the concert at a reasonable price and perfect location for a superstar concert featuring gospel sensation Tamela Mann.

"Two weeks before the show was supposed to take place this month, I was told by someone else there wasn't going to be a concert."

A woman who bought two tickets did not want her identity revealed.

After getting in touch with the person she bought the tickets from she was told no refunds were being issued because of out-of-pocket expenses.

Robert Grant of Zion Apostolic Christian Memorial In Petersburg, where the concert was to take place said the church was strictly a venue and had no hand in organizing or ticket sales.

"They pointing fingers at us. We have nothing to do with it," Grant said.

Tamela Mann's booking agent said the star had no plans for a concert in Petersburg this weekend. Event organizers said negotiations to host the singer didn't work out.

In order refund your concert tickets you need to contact Minister Tonya Hanks with Sisters Reaching Sisters Ministries at 804-504-1679.
