NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The search is ongoing for two men accused in an armed robbery at a south Nashville hotel early Tuesday morning.

Police say two men, one armed with a handgun, robbed the clerk inside the La Quinta Inn on Sidco Drive off Interstate 65 just after 3 a.m. and tried to get her to open the safe.

A hotel guest walked into the lobby while this was happening, and the men tied him to a chair as they continued to try to open the safe.

A few minutes later, a security guard who came into the hotel lobby was also tied up and held at gunpoint.

According to police, the men tried to open the safe for 30 to 45 minutes before ripping out the safe and stealing the security guard's truck. The truck was found on Independence Court in Goodlettsville on Tuesday night.

The men who were tied up were not injured during the incident.

Cheryl Johnson checked into the hotel Tuesday afternoon. She said no one told her about the armed robbery.

"I've stayed at this hotel before. Nobody mentioned any problem when I checked in," Johnson said. "I think I would have liked to know what happened before I checked in."

The suspected robbers are described as two black men. Police say the gunman is approximately 5'10" with a thin build. He wore black athletic shorts and jacket with gray socks and black and white Nike shoes.

The second suspect is approximately 6'2" with a muscular build. He has shoulder-length dreads and an oval tattoo on his entire right forearm. He wore black shorts and jacket with an orange/red shirt and white Nike shoes.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
