More than 22,000 people missing in Mexico

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The number of people missing in Mexico since the start of the country's drug war in 2006 is alarming.

Authorities gave conflicting figures on the number since 2013 when officials said there were 26,000 people unaccounted for in the entire country.

Then in May, the Mexican government updated that number to 8,000 people missing, but now they're saying more than 22,000 are missing.

It's not clear how many of the missing have been kidnapped or killed by drug gangs.
