Homes in Mt. Juliet neighborhood hit by stray bullets

Posted: Updated:

Seven houses in Mt. Juliet have been hit by what police believe are stray bullets since the end of May.

Police are working to pinpoint where the gunfire is coming from before someone gets hurt.

No one has been hurt, but bullets went through the homes' living areas in at least three cases.

The bullet that passed through Zooey Bramlett's home on Aug. 3 came in through the ceiling and lodged in the opposite wall.

Police suspect the bullets are coming from recreational shooting or hunting on property between the Del Webb and Lake Providence neighborhoods and the Beckwith Road corridor.

Holly Hutchison said she wonders how to protect her family from flying bullets.

"My neighbor rushed home after his daughter called crying and worried," Hutchison said. "I'm not sure what we're supposed to do."

Bramlett asked whoever is doing the shooting to not shoot near peoples' houses.

Mt. Juliet police are asking residents to contact them if they hear loud gunshots near their house.
