Music City Center hosts murder mystery writer convention

Posted: Updated:

The new Music City Center has already played host to a variety of groups that share a common interest. This week, that interest is murder.

A group of 500 murder mystery writers shared their fictional stories this past week in what they're calling Killer Nashville.

In the world of mystery writers, you can judge a book by its cover. No matter the plot, no matter the story, someone will end up murdered.

Craig Farris was among the writers in attendance. The author of Spectrum Conspiracy, he's a creator and solver of made-up crimes.

Inside the Omni Hotel, a fake crime scene was set up for Farris and other writers to solve. The scene featured a fake dead body, turned over chairs and a variety of clues.

After 45 seconds of detective work, Farris is already making headway.

"It tells me he put up a fight," Farris said.

The murder mystery writers spent most of their time in seminars learning about writing, building scenes and creating tension.
