When asked on my Not the Perfect Cook Facebook page what your favorite cocktails were, margaritas won! So here are two cocktails you can make this week; my easy, homemade margaritas and a refreshing, Cuban Lime Slushy.
AIMEE FORTNEY'S EASY MARGARITA
(Makes 1 drink)
1 shot tequila (I used Hornitos 100% Blue Agave Tequila)
1 shot Orange Whipped Vodka (I used Pinnacle; or you may use triple sec)
1 to 2 limes, juiced
Shake all ingredients with ice, then strain and pour into margarita glass. If wanting a salt rimmed glass, run the lime wedge around glass rim, then dip onto a plate of kosher salt.
AIMEE FORTNEY'S CUBAN LIME SLUSHY (RON COLI DE LAZARO)
My dear Cuban friend, Lazaro Diaz, taught me how to make this drink. Lazaro uses a bit more sugar and rum than I do; but he is somewhat larger!
2 cups ice
4 limes, juiced
3 Tablespoons sugar
2 shots rum (I used Cruzan Aged Rum)
Crush ice in blender. Add the juice from 4 limes, sugar, 2 shots of rum (Cruzan), then blend all together in blender. Pour this slushy, delicious mixture into a glass and enjoy! Garnish with a lime wedge, if desired.
