NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Nashville parks officials officially dedicated the rebuilt Edmondson Park, the city's first "art park," Wednesday.

The park features work from local artists dedicated to sculptor Williamson Edmondson, the park's namesake.

Edmondson was the first African American artist ever to have a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

The Nashville native was born just blocks away from where the park now stands.

The rebuilt park has been three years in the making. It includes a walking trail, play area and bikeway.
