Victims in fatal downtown Raleigh shooting identified, police search for leads

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Raleigh police are investigating a fatal shooting on West South Street near Dawson Street in downtown Wednesday morning.

Police said the shooting happened shortly before 5 a.m. in the 400 block of West South Street.

When officers arrived, they located 23-year-old Ramon Antonio Shaw, who had suffered a gunshot wound. Shaw was taken to WakeMed where he later died.

A second victim, 30-year-old Joshua Jamar Vines, was also taken to WakeMed where he was treated for gunshot wounds.

Police do not have a suspect or suspects in custody at this time, but officers are interested in speaking with people who were in the 400 block of West South Street or the surrounding area around the time of the shooting.
