FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -

A local middle school student has a chance to move one step closer to the $1 million prize Tuesday on America's Got Talent.

Quintavious Johnson, 12, has held nothing back during the competition, wowing the judges and audience of America's Got Talent.

On Tuesday night's episode, judges will choose only five contestants to move on to the semifinals.

"I am so excited," said Shakela Calhoun, Johnson's cousin. "I am just so proud."

Family members plan on cheering him on at home in Franklin, where Johnson nurtured his talent.

"He wasn't even 1 yet and he hummed a tune back at his mom," Calhoun said. "He shares the gift. He sings in a choir. He goes around different churches singing."

The sixth grader was understandably not in class at Freedom Middle School on Tuesday, but Channel 4 News caught up with him by phone from New York.

"I am getting ready today for the big performance, but I have seen the Statue of Liberty," Johnson said. "I can't tell you what I'll be singing, but it will be a powerful performance, I promise you that."

Cool and confident, Johnson was already working for viewer votes Tuesday. A win would mean a $1 million prize for his mother and the dream of singing at the Super Bowl.
