TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A baby was placed in CPS custody on Monday night after being found in the back of the suspect getaway car on Tucson's northeast side, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

PCSD Deputy Tom Peine said sheriffs responded to a call about a burglary in progress near Soldier Trail and Fort Lowell just before 1:30 p.m. and found a white car backed into the driveway of the home.

Shannon Spooner, 39, was in the driver's seat and her one and a half year old child was in the back. A 15-year-old and his father, 43-year-old Sonny Conrad, ran out of the house and several patrol cars blocked the suspect vehicle from leaving. Authorities arrested the three suspects and the infant was placed in the custody of a relative. Child Protective Services was notified.

Detectives determined the father and son allegedly broke into the home through a window. Authorities charged the three suspects with second degree burglary and the parents were also charged with child abuse.

The investigation is ongoing.
