Asphalt work will slow south-side commute

Posted: Updated:
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Construction should slow the commute on Tucson's south side for the next few weeks, as crews improve asphalt conditions.

Tucson Department of Transportation officials will work on South 12th Avenue between West Santa Paula Street and West Bilby Road through about Aug. 29. This is near West Valencia Road.

The work zone will stay active from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A single travel lane will be in place during the construction, so plan for travel delays. Drivers can also use South 6th Avenue as an alternate around the cone zone.

Always slow down and obey all traffic signals in construction zones. Be aware of workers and equipment.
