IRS repeats warning about phone scams

Posted: Updated:
The IRS again warns of a nationwide phone scam.

The Internal Revenue Service says the widespread phone scam has already cost victims millions of dollars.
The agency received about 90-thousand complaints of unsolicited calls from individuals demanding payment while fraudulently claiming to be from the IRS.

According to the IRS, crooks have already stolen some 5-million dollars from unsuspecting victims.  The IRS says its first contact with people is always via U.S. Mail and IRS employees never threaten tax payers for immediate payment.
