RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN (WSMV) -

A man is dead and another person was injured after an overnight shooting in Rutherford County.

When police responded to the shooting around 9:30 p.m. Monday, they found a 29-year-old man shot dead on the porch. The victim has been identified as Charles Light.

Police say the man's girlfriend's mother, 55-year-old Wendy Whittemore, was also shot. She was listed in stable condition Tuesday at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Authorities have charged Justin Odom, 23, of Amerson Court with first-degree murder of Light and attempted murder of Whittemore. Odom is being held without bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

Police said Odom knew the victims for an extended period of time. They are still working to identify a motive.

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office received a call of the shooting Monday at the Amerson Court home. Other officers responded to Mark and Pat's Bar on Old Woodbury Highway where Whittemore rode to get help after being shot.

Deputies and Criminal Investigations Division detectives found several people at the home, including Odom. They questioned witnesses and processed the crime scene all night.

Amanda Young, 27, of South McCrary Street in Woodbury is also charged with felony filing a false report. She is being held on $25,000 bond at the Adult Detention Center.

Hearings for both Odom and Young are set Sept. 11 in General Sessions Court.
