Crime Stoppers: Robbery at Mr. Zip

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

The victim in this week's Crime Stoppers case did everything right to make sure he could go home at the end of his shift. That included obeying the demands of a robber at about 3:00AM. He was stocking the cooler at the Mr. Zip convenience store on Gunbarrel Road when our suspect, dressed in sunglasses, a red hoodie and bandana, approached. "Goes to him with his hands in his pocket and says, 'I've got a gun, give me all the money.' So, clerk, being smart, goes to the register and goes ahead and gives him his demands." Chattanooga Police Sgt. Daniel Jones explained.

It was a good disguise. All we can add to the pictures are that he was said to be a black male with a light complexion, skinny build, and around six feet tall. "There's gonna be someone out there that knows this guy who has a red bandana, who has the sunglasses, big circle sunglasses like this, who's gonna have this red hoodie, who's gonna have these white shoes, if you will," said Sgt. Jones. "That they know that this guy, all of a sudden, got rich, real quick."

We want to hear from you. Any little bit of information could be helpful. Keep him from doing this again. Earn yourself some honest cash and remain completely anonymous. "The great thing about Crime Stoppers," Jones said, "is when people call in, I don't have to know who you are. You can just tell me a different name than what you really are. All I need to do is get the information to make the arrest. We affect an arrest, we turn around and put cash in your hand."

Up to $1,000 is waiting. The next step is yours. Call Crime Stoppers: 423-698-3333

A police officer may answer the phone or return your call, but he will never ask your identity.
