Barricaded suspect in Mt. Juliet police custody

Posted: Updated:

Mt. Juliet police took a barricaded suspect into custody Saturday evening, after the suspect kept officers at bay for over two hours.

Officers responded to a home in the 300 Block of Dunwood Loop around 3:15 p.m. to do a welfare check on a man who was threatening suicide.

Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had locked himself inside the home and was possibly armed with handguns and long-range rifles.

Police say 12 homes had to be evacuated to ensure the community's safety.

Police say after speaking with a Wilson County Sheriff Crisis Negotiator, the barricaded suspect came out the front door to meet officers around 6:15 p.m.

No one was injured. Officials say there was no immediate danger to the public.
