LOCUST GROVE, Ga. -

Georgia police are trying to identify a man who picked up $400 in cash just after it was accidentally dropped to the floor by a manager at a McDonald’s, and say the man broke the law by keeping the money.

A video of the incident was released by police in hopes of catching the man.

The man was buying a meal at McDonald’s and while he was paying, a manager on her way to the drink station, dropped four $100 bills on the floor and then unknowingly kicked the wad of cash.

Within seconds, the man at the counter headed to the drink station, grabbed the bills and stuffed them in his pocket.

He then filled up his drink, went back to the counter to get his meal and walked out the door.

Henry County police are hoping someone can identify him so they can charge him with theft of lost or mislaid property, which is a misdemeanor.

"This individual acquired items that did not belong to him and the law states that he should have made some type of effort to try to help the victim re-claim their property," said Lt. Joey Smith of the Henry County police.

The manager at the McDonald’s told police the man is a regular customer who comes into the restaurant almost every day, but has not been back since he took the money.
