CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - UPDATE: A Chattanooga man is recovering after he was shot while working in the yard.

It happened just before 9:00 Tuesday  night at a home on Ohls Avenue.

“I asked him what he needed the money for and he said ‘This is the stick up,” you know, ‘This is a hold up,’” Daniel Marlowe said.

Marlowe describes the moments before he was shot in front of his Ohls Avenue home Tuesday night.

“He started walking away, I said ‘Man, that is weak,” and he shot me through the abdomen,” he said.

The 34 year old says he was mowing the grass in front of his house when a dark sedan with three men inside pulled up. That’s when one man got out and demanded money.

Marlowe handed over all he had in his pocket: $40 cash. But then the shooter opened fire.

“They just got $40. Why is all of this going on for $40? Is there something bigger here or what?” Marlowe said.

It all unfolded with Marlowe’s 8 year old daughter sitting inside the home just feet away, causing him to fear the worst.

“What’s going on here? There’s two other people in the vehicle. Are they leaving? Are they coming in? What’s going on now?” he added.

The bullet entered through Marlowe’s stomach and came out through his back, missing all of his organs.

“It came very close to killing me,” he said.

But serves as a reminder that life can change within a matter of seconds.

Police are still looking for the men involved in this case. If you have any information, call Chattanooga Police.
