Oro Valley woman gets 40 years on child sex charges

ORO VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

An Oro Valley woman was sentenced to 40 years in prison on child sex charges for incidents dating back to 2012, police confirmed.

Oro Valley Police arrested Melissa Ann Gordy, 44, on April 17, 2012 in connection with the arrest of a man charged with abusing a 14-year-old female family member, according to OVPD. Authorities charged Gordy with sexual exploitation of a minor and child abuse. She was indicted and posted bond.

On Sept. 18, Gordy returned to court for amended charges and she was indicted on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor under the age of 15, child abuse and evidence tampering. Gordy was released.

On July 28, 2014, Gordy accepted a plea agreement and was sentenced to 40 years in prison and a lifetime of probation on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor under the age of 15 and sexual exploitation of a minor under 15 in the second degree, both felony charges.
