RALEIGH, N.C. -

Police say an 8-year-old who was hit by a car Monday on Rock Quarry Road had "darted" into traffic.

Jahlen Williams was transported to WakeMed after being hit by a car on Rock Quarry Road near Crosslink Road around 11:15 a.m.

According to a wreck report released on Tuesday, Williams was attempting to cross Rock Quarry Road with his family when he "darted into traffic."

Williams was then hit by a car being driven by 29-year-old Dantrail McAllister. The wreck report indicated that McAllister was traveling 34 mph when he hit Williams.

Williams was transported with life threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed against McAllister, police said.
