CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

One of the snow leopards at the Chattanooga Zoo has died.

Kasimir, the 16-year-old snow leopard, died after days of continued weight loss and health deterioration.

Kasimir, along with her sister Chaney, were the first snow leopards in the Chattanooga Zoo’s Himalayan snow leopard exhibit. They were donated to the zoo from the Roger Williams Park Zoo in 2006.

“Kasimir  was one of the sweetest and most intelligent members of our collection,” says Chattanooga Zoo President and CEO, Darde Long.

Kasimir birthed two litters of cubs while at the zoo. Renji and Maliha were moved to the Cincinnati Zoo and the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island.

The Chattanooga Zoo is currently awaiting necropsy results from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, College of Veterinary Medicine to determine her cause of death.
