NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The man accused of taking money from a woman's purse inside a waiting room at Tristar Skyline Medical Center has been identified.

Metro Nashville Police said a Crime Stoppers tip led them to 33-year-old Virgil Baker.

Channel 4 talked to the victim on Wednesday.

She said she met Baker while she was waiting for news on her brother and sister-in-law, who had been in a motorcycle crash. Baker allegedly told her that his brother had suffered a stroke.

The victim said she had fallen asleep when the theft happened on the morning of June 15.

"He got up out of his chair, walked over, leaned between the two of us, took my purse, took the money out of it, put my purse back where he found it and walked out the door," the victim said.

Baker was taken into custody on Tuesday for failure to appear. He remains in custody without bond and is facing theft charges for the incident at the hospital.

Police said Baker has previous convictions for aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, vehicle theft and evading arrest.
