Beretta USA moving manufacturing to Gallatin

Posted: Updated:

Gun manufacturer Beretta USA announced on Tuesday that it will move all its manufacturing and production from Maryland to a new facility in Gallatin.

With a $45 million investment they'll build a new production facility at the Gallatin Industrial Center off Airport Road.

The facility, which is expected to open next year, will create several hundred new local jobs.

"There will be a lot of engineers, a lot of designers, a lot of different highly skilled positions that come with this. The average wages for these 300 people will be over $40,000 a year," said James Fenton, executive director of the Gallatin Economic Development Agency.

The president of Beretta says a new gun control bill in Maryland motivated the move, though their administrative offices will remain in that state.

"We also have a lot of people coming in to look at our community. Right now, Gallatin has been called a ‘hot spot,' so I think the fact that there are 300 jobs that are coming, not to mention all the other jobs we have already announced, I think it puts us in a top tier of attractive places to locate," said Gallatin Mayor Jo Ann Graves.
