LINDEN, TN (WSMV) -

Two men are being held without bond after being arrested on charges of kidnapping and murder.

The suspects, Juan Carlos Ramirez, 28, and Luis Galvan Mendoza, 40, are being held at the Henderson County Jail.

Investigators believe the men held 25-year-old Brittany Simpson against her will while traveling on Highway 412.

"She was either pushed from this vehicle or she fell from this vehicle," said Josh DeVine, spokesman for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Simpson was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center, but she did not survive.

Initially, investigators believed Simpson was the victim of a hit-and-run.  It is unclear how Ramirez and Mendoza became suspects in the case.

According to the TBI, Simpson knew at least one of the men.
