SPRINGFIELD, TN (WSMV) -

A Springfield mom said she wants to file charges after her daughter was knocked over and bitten by neighborhood dogs.

"I would always be around, and I'd still be hearing them every day, but yesterday was the day that they got me," said 7-year-old Ashlynn Lyston.

Ashlynn and sister Cadence love a day outside together, all smiles and laughs, always crashing their bikes into each other. Mom Brandi Lyston said that's the worst danger she wants to see near the daycare she runs out of her Corbitt Lane home.

"I was afraid to bring them out all morning until we knew that the dogs were gone," said Lyston. "I didn't want to come out with them supervised, because I was afraid they'd come up."

Ashlynn is now able to play without fear in front of the house where two dogs left their yard and attacked her Tuesday.

"I was going to cross the street, and I heard them," said Ashlynn. "I looked around, but I was facing the wrong way. One jumped on me. One bit me."

"A few minutes after she walked outside, we heard screaming," said Lyston.

"I was falling down and when I hit the ground, the dogs ran away," said Ashlynn. "I just ran inside, and mom took me to the hospital."

Both dogs are now at Springfield Animal Control.

"I wasn't allowed outside until they were gone," said Ashlynn.

Police don't believe anyone is living at the dogs' home while neighbors said they haven't seen the owners in a month.

"It could've been prevented," said Lyston. "Those dogs have been left with no food or water. It was definitely negligence. It shouldn't have happened to begin with, so I'm still pretty angry about that."

Lyston said she wants to file charges. Meanwhile, the fate of the dogs is still uncertain. Police said both matters depend on whether the owners of the house can be found.

"I feel better, but it just hurts a little," said Ashlynn. "I'd run right inside if I saw those dogs again."
