Former Vanderbilt student files $20M lawsuit against school

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A former Vanderbilt University student just filed a $20 million lawsuit against the school alleging sexual harassment and discrimination.

The plaintiff is a former graduate student at Vanderbilt.

She filed a federal lawsuit against the university and Vanderbilt's medical school. A dean, a chancellor and a department director are named in the lawsuit.

She says she was sexually harassed while she was there, and claims that she was sexually and racially discriminated against.

This comes on the heels of the high-profile case involving four former Vanderbilt football players who are accused of raping an unconscious student.

Channel 4 asked Vanderbilt to comment on the lawsuit, but a university spokesperson said they have not been served yet, so they cannot comment.
