Sony CEO Doug Morris announced Thursday morning that his company Sony Music has signed a record deal with Garth Brooks.

At a press conference held in Nashville, Brooks announced that his music will soon be available to download on his website, www.garthbrooks.com.

Brooks has resisted selling his music digitally in the past.

Brooks also announced that he would call a man named Andy, who was on the front row at a show in Las Vegas during his New Year's Day shows there, on July 14 to tell him where the world tour would open. Brooks said the announcement to the public would be made later after that date.

Brooks also discussed the cancellation of five shows in Dublin, Ireland, that was announced earlier this week.

Brooks' career skyrocketed in the 1990s.

The country superstar walked away from the music business in 2001 to raise his three daughters.

Since then, he only performed and released music sporadically. One of the series of concerts he did hold was in December 2010 to raise money for the victims of the May 2010 Nashville flood.
