NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Four songwriters were selected Tuesday to be inducted into the Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame.

Selected for induction later this year were Gretchen Peters, Tom Douglas, Paul Craft and John Anderson.

They have all written hit songs and won numerous awards.

Each new inductee spoke to the crowd gathered for the announcement and showed their gratitude for the recognition.

"I'm glad. Hopefully, maybe, I've carried the torch just a little bit through the years," said Anderson. "I'm just really honored to be a little part of this."

The new members will officially be inducted in a ceremony on Oct. 5.
