NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Midstate woman was arrested overnight and charged with killing her own mother.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested 40-year-old April Stowe in Cannon County early Thursday morning on first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of Valerie McFadden.

McFadden's body was found June 23 on Woody Lane in Millersville, TN.

The TBI believes that Stowe killed McFadden, 61, at the Readyville, TN, home they shared on June 23. Stowe then drove to Millersville and dumped her mom's body on the side of the road.

Authorities are not saying what happened inside the home.

Stowe is being held in the Cannon County Jail on a $1 million bond.
