Antioch, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police have charged an Antioch father with aggravated child abuse and child neglect after his 2-year-old daughter was found Saturday afternoon alone and unattended inside a locked vehicle with the windows up.

Police say Nara Kattel, 35, went inside the K&S Market on Nolensville Pike around noon.

Investigators say a citizen reported seeing the child crying and sweating in the back seat.

Responding medics broke out a window and removed the child. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for observation.

Authorities say, the toddler had an elevated temperature and heartbeat.

Investigators say the girl appeared to have been inside the car unattended for approximately 20 minutes.

Police say Kattel exited the store at 12:37 p.m. with several items he had purchased.

Police say during an interview, Kattel said that he had forgotten his daughter was in the vehicle.

Kattel is being held in lieu of $60,000 bond.
