The teenager who was driving during a fatal crash on Wade Avenue May 29 now faces misdemeanor death by vehicle charges, Raleigh Police said Thursday.

Anastasiya Katherine Bergeron, 18, of Bunnlevel was traveling eastbound on I-40 when she lost control of a 2001 Toyota sedan around 4:45 p.m. in between Wade Avenue and Chapel Hill Road.

Her total bond is $5,000.

The vehicle veered off the side of the road and hit a tree to the right of the interstate, police said.

The vehicle belonged to 20-year-old Chase Morgan Rodgers, according to the wreck report. Rodgers was the right front passenger and died at the scene.

Bergeron was charged with provisional DWI at the time.
