Metro police investigating robbery at Hermitage bank

Posted: Updated:

Metro police and the FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force are investigating after a bank was robbed Tuesday afternoon in Hermitage.

The Fifth Third Bank in the 5500 block of Old Hickory Boulevard was robbed about 1 p.m.

Police have released a surveillance image of the suspect, who is described as a white man about 6' tall with blonde hair. The man had pantyhose over his face, a satchel over his shoulder and an open umbrella in one hand.

Police said he placed an item that he claimed to be a bomb on the counter and demanded money. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Emergency officials determined the item the suspect left behind was a hoax device.

If you recognize the person pictured, call investigators at 615-742-7463 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
