MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

A former Murfreesboro police officer has entered an information plea after being accused of stealing and selling equipment from his department.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, 33-year-old Jason Lowder allegedly took used bulletproof vests and sold them on Craigslist and Armslist between January 2013 and January 2014.

The TBI says Lowder made one of these sales from the back of his patrol car while he was in uniform.

Lowder allegedly admitted to selling the equipment and later resigned from his position.

As part of his plea agreement, Lowder will serve probation, pay $1,000 in restitution and surrender his certification as a police officer in Tennessee.
