Man accused of setting fire to La Vergne home while people were inside

LA VERGNE, TN (WSMV) -

A man is accused of trying to burn a La Vergne house down with his girlfriend and her two young children trapped inside.

Police say Eric Sharpe used an accelerant when he set fire to the house on Forest Ridge Drive over the weekend.

The woman and her children managed to escape, but their dog died in the fire.

Sharpe is facing a list of charges, including aggravated arson.
