CARTHAGE, TN (WSMV) -

A Cookeville teenager was cited for following too closely in a crash that killed a Jackson County woman Friday on Interstate 40.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says the wreck occurred about 9:45 a.m. near mile marker 257 in Smith County.

A 17-year-old girl was driving eastbound in a 2006 Kia when her vehicle collided into the back of a 2000 GMC, causing the GMC to flip, THP investigators said.

The driver of the GMC, 24-year-old Jamie Jones of Gainesboro, TN, was ejected and died.

The driver of the Kia and two passengers were injured.
