Vanderbilt holds off Stanford 11-6 in Game 1

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Vanderbilt scored 10 runs in the first three innings and held on for an 11-6 win over Stanford in Game 1 of the NCAA Super Regional.

Bryan Reynolds was 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and two RBI to lead the Commodores (45-18).

Vanderbilt can advance to its second appearance in the College World Series with a victory over the Cardinal on Saturday (TV: ESPN2, 2 p.m.)

Tyler Beede, Vanderbilt's ace and a first-round MLB draft pick Thursday night, was near-perfect the first three innings, hitting a batter and walking one, before giving up six runs in the next two innings. Beede walked four batters and struck out two in 4 2/3 innings of work.

Tyler Ferguson (8-3) picked up the victory with 2 2/3 innings scoreless relief.
